Review: Undone by You by Kate Meader (Chicago Rebels #3)

Swoon-worthy and totally le-sigh-inducing, Undone by You is every bit the sports romance that its predecessors in the Chicago Rebels series were, but damn, how it packed one hell of a slapshot of a read in novella form! This is neither my first book nor is it my first series from bestselling author Kate Meader, but this has become, hands down, my favorite. Quite a bit of this does overlap with events in the previous books, BUT this can absolutely still be read as a standalone, and trust me, you're going to want to read this one, especially if you're a fan of sports romances, particularly hockey, and M/M romances. This may be a quickie but it stays with you.
Dante Moretti's playing career came to an end because of an injury, but he had another dream to pursue--that of becoming a general manager, and he finally gets the opportunity to do so at thirty-five with the Chicago Rebels. The fact that he's the first openly gay GM in sports isn't a problem, even though he's sure there are grumblings about it. While the Rebels were once seen as the bottom dwellers of the league, Dante plans on proving to everyone that they can be a force to be reckoned with. He's focused on the task at hand. If only he weren't as focused on the unquestionably distracting and the Rebels' best defenseman, Cade "Alamo" Burnett.
At the age of thirteen, Cade Burnett had one hero in the world of hockey that he looked up to: Dante Moretti. Ten years later, who would have thought that the man he idolized would become his team's GM? The crush he's been nursing since Dante entered the Rebels' locker room four weeks ago has Cade taking matters into his own hands. The thing is, no one except his best friend knows that he's gay, and while Dante may take him up on his offer to help him check things off his sexual bucket list, Cade knows Dante wouldn't want to be with a guy in the closet who also happens to be his player long-term. They're both undone but who'll call their affair "done"?
Le sigh. I swear, this book was like this perfect nugget of hockey romance slash M/M romance goodness. One tiny morsel of absolute swoon that had me grinning like a loon by the time I was done. And that's the thing: I didn't need some overly long novel that would have had me sitting for four hours trying to get to the end. All I needed and wanted was spectacular writing courtesy of Kate Meader, two deliciously interesting men with a hell of a lot of chemistry, and the other essentials (i.e. romance, sex, angst, humor). I was so undone by the five-plus-starred Undone by You, and it's whetted my appetite for the fourth novel, Hooked on You, coming this May. ♥
