Review: Countdown to a Kiss by Piper Rayne (Hockey Hotties #0.5)


The always awesome writing duo that is Piper Rayne has gotten their new Hockey Hotties series off to a fabulous start. Countdown to a Kiss is the prequel novella, and it happens to be free for the taking on e-retailers. I love when these two decide to introduce their readers and fans to a new series with these free prequels of theirs. They never disappoint! Here, we meet three professional hockey players with the Florida Fury: Aiden Drake, Maksim Petrov, and Ford Jacobs. They've been invited to a New Year's shindig at the team owner's residence. It's there each of them comes face-to-face with a woman who could be a game changer.

Color me intrigued about these three potential couples! Aiden needs to break his losing streak, Maksim is drawn to someone who makes it clear she isn't interested in a hockey player like him, and Ford's controlling father wants him to toe the family line. I'm certainly curious as to how each of their stories will play out and their respective dilemmas will be resolved. If it's one thing I know that the author combo of Piper Rayne will have in each of those books is a whole lot of romance and humor, and I'm always ready for more of that from these two. I'm really looking forward to reading the full-length Hockey Hotties books. Four stars for Countdown to a Kiss, which did its job quite well in whetting my hockey romance reading appetite for more.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
