Review: Here with You by Tia Louise

Here with Me is a falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling romance with second-chance feels to it, and it's penned by bestselling author Tia Louise. Sawyer LaGrange has owned Melinda Claire Ray's heart from the time she was eleven, having crushed on her best friend's older brother since he was sixteen. He drew the proverbial line in the sand, knowing the five-year difference was wide enough that it would be catch the attention of some, and not in a good way. His priority needed to be his younger, and if it meant setting aside his own dreams for them until they were old enough, then so be it. Sawyer could only resist his draw to Mindy for so long, but then he was off to join the Marines. He never asked Mindy to wait for him to return, but wait she did. What happens when the boy who left has now become a man so different from the one she knew? How will Mindy show him that he was worth waiting for, that what they share is still a very real thing, and that Sawyer deserves to be right by her side forever?

While this book does share ties with the author's previous release, Wait for Me, you can pretty much read one separately from the other. Of course, me being the kind of reader that I am, I read the books in order because there are recurring characters, and we do see both Sawyer and Mindy in the Noel LaGrange's book--Noel being Sawyer's younger sister and Mindy's best friend. There was a lot to love about this new book, and Tia Louise always manages to strike that delicate balance, giving readers angst but never delving into outright drama-rama. There's also more than enough of that lighthearted feel that the story doesn't feel overly heavy or depressing. On the contrary, Sawyer and Mindy are two people who have been through their fair share of challenges, yet with Mindy's perseverance and patience and her love for Sawyer, she inspires him to strive and be a better version of the broken Marine who came home. These two stayed with me long past "The End". Four stars for Here with You. ♥
