Review: "With a Twist" by Sawyer Bennett (Last Call #4)
Wyatt Banks loves his family, his friends, and his job as a cop. When he's asked to go undercover to apprehend a man involved in the sex slave trade, he leaves his loved ones and hometown for however long it takes. He becomes Charles "Razor" Hawkins, better known as Raze, in the strip club where he is soon promoted as general manager. He gains everyone's trust, but know the operation needs to level up, and they're going to need a woman ready to do what is necessary in order to get the job done.
Andrea Somerville's only has her brother Kyle, having lost both their parents, doesn't have any friends, but does enjoy being an FBI agent. She would love nothing more than to be accepted into Behavioral Research and Instructional Unit. Going undercover to arrest a sex slave trader will give her the experience needed for the BRIU to seriously consider her application. She'll need to rely on her past as a stripper as a working college student but she's ready to become her alter ego Nikki "Nikki O" Oliver.
When Wyatt first sees Andrea, he isn't sure she fits the job description, but once she hits the stage, he's gobsmacked. As Raze and Nikki, they do what is necessary to get the evidence they need and prepare for Nikki to be sold as a sex slave. But even behind the fake names, there's a smoldering attraction that neither one of them is fully aware is 100% mutual. When the operation comes to a close, will Wyatt and Andrea be able to pursue their feelings and see if they have a future together outside the job?
I loved, loved, LOVED With a Twist, the fourth book in the Last Call series by bestselling author Sawyer Bennett. Wyatt was always a secondary character in the other books and now he's finally able to get his story told, and what an interesting one it is! He was partnered with Andrea and they just seemed so perfect for each other. They're backgrounds were different and they lived in different states, both of which were issues that they had to confront if there was any hope for their relationship to last.
Neither of the main characters were dark or had any sort of negative things going on in their lives, making them markedly different from those in the first three books. I liked how their love story may have progressed much faster than the others but yet had a quiet intensity about it, neither of them having to divulge too many sordid details with the other characters. This was just such an easy and enjoyable read and is now my favorite in the series. I'm happily giving With a Twist five stars. ♥
