Review: "Crossing Abby Road" by Ophelia London (Abby Road #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by Entangled Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Todd Camford feels at home in Seaside, Florida. His surf shop is doing well and he's got a nice house with his dog by his side. He's also got family and friends who love and support him, even though most of them aren't in Florida. His engagement may have come to an end a few months ago but he knows it was for the best. His days as a former Marine sniper and one-time nine-to-fiver are in the past and life is much simpler now. And then rock star Abigail Kelly enters his surf shop...

Crossing Abby Road by Ophelia London is the companion novel to Abby Road and is told from Todd's point of view. This will be a fun read for previous readers of the first book, especially because it allows us to see things from Todd's perspective. I would recommend that book one be read first before tackling this one because this only covers the day that Todd and Abby met. Knowing that this is a companion novel may help those who are going into it without having read Abby Road.

There's a part of me that wishes that the book had covered the missing period from the first book, i.e. Abby's vacation in Florida. Even if it was just limited to Abby's time with Todd for those three months, it would have still been interesting because it allows fans of the first book to enjoy those moments that they didn't get to experience before. Also, there were some inconsistencies when comparing the two books and it isn't limited to just the dialogue, leaving me a bit confused.

Overall, Crossing Abby Road was a pretty good book, although if you were to read it a standalone, I can imagine the frustration on the part of some readers. For those of us who have read the first book, this adds a bit more fun and humor to that first day Abby and Todd spent together and it gives fans a bit more background on Todd and his relationship with his family, what his past with the Marines was like, and his thoughts on his ex-fiancĂ©e. I'm giving this four stars out of five. ♥
