Review: "Hate F*@k: Part Two" by Ainsley Booth (The Horus Group #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by Victory Editing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Cole Parker has just been arrested for murder but Hailey Reid knows he didn't do it...because he was with her when it happened. It would be so easy for him to tell the authorities that he's got an alibi, and if he were really the bastard that she initially thought he was, he'd do it without a second thought...but he doesn't. Hailey's more than willing to give a statement in order to clear Cole, but he still refuses to let her become involved, wanting to protect her from the latest shit storm his job has dragged him into.

If Hailey listened to her head, she knows it would be telling her to walk away from Cole and chalk up what happened between them as a mistake. However, she can't stop thinking about him or their time together, and even though she knows it's wrong, she wants to be with him. But when her father is connected with an unsavory character who's suspected of illegal acts, Hailey wants answers and while she's pretty sure Cole can give them to her, she also knows he's not going to. Things are about to get more complicated.

This is the second installment in the Hate F*@k serial by Ainsley Booth and I've been waiting for what feels like forever for it to come out. Okay, obviously I'm exaggerating since it's only been a matter of a little over a month. I try to stay away from serials unless all the installments are already available and because cliffhangers are evil. And then I came across the first installment on NetGalley last month... This is what happens when I end up loving the first book in an unfinished serial. Pure evilness, Ainsley Booth!

Yes, there is yet another cliffhanger here but everything that came before that dreaded point in the book makes the anxiety worth it. Cole and Hailey are trying to come to grips with what exactly is going on between the two of them and they appear to be in an inconstant state of denial. I say inconstant because there are those unguarded moments where they can actually be honest with themselves...with each other, not so much. ^.^ Cole and Hailey are perfect for one another, no matter what anyone else may think.

Hate F*@k has the drama, action, mystery thriller, and romance that make it an enticing read from start to finish and for a really quick read, you're never left wanting. Frustrated with the cliffhanger, yes, but not that feeling that something's lacking. Oh, and there's steam. A lot of steam. ^.^ This second installment was only available for review on NetGalley yesterday and as soon as I received the approval today, I simply had to read (and review) it. Hate F*@k: Part Two is a bookaholic's must-read and gets 4.5 stars.
