Review: "The Bachelor's Baby" by Dani Collins (Bachelor Auction #3)

Meg Canon has a successful career in Chicago but her hometown of Marietta, Montana has always been her safety net of sorts. She knows what it feels like to not be wanted, what with her being put up for adoption by her birth parents and her not being able to locate them even after a public appeal. As much as possible, she distances herself from anything serious with men, but that doesn't stop her from bidding on the one man who shares her need for non-committal relationships.
Lincoln Brady retired from working on oil rigs and wants to be able to enjoy having a place to call home. His a newcomer to the town of Marietta but that doesn't stop him from being roped in to taking part in the charity bachelor auction after the organizer is encouraged by Meg Canon to approach him. Their first two meetings may not have started on the wrong foot but now, Linc is hoping to spend a little more time with the woman who's set to head back to Chicago the very next day.
While Meg and Linc share a night that neither of them are able to forget, life returns to normal for both of them. After a brief exchange of emails, it's radio silence, and maybe that's for the best. But when what Meg thought was the flu turns out to be something more permanent, she does what she thinks is best and tells Linc that she's pregnant. Will a man who's never wanted to have children be able to get over his issues and realize that what started as a one-night stand could lead to forever?
The Bachelor's Baby by Dani Collins is book number three in Bachelor Auction, a series comprised of six books written by six different authors. Lead characters Meg and Linc start off somewhat adversarial after Linc invites Meg to his home a few minutes after they first meet. The fact that Meg suggests that Linc is perfect for the bachelor auction leads to even more tension between the two but I liked that it was only a momentary thing and wasn't the main conflict in the entire book.
I really enjoyed reading how Meg and Linc dealt with the pregnancy, working together to provide the best possible life for their unborn child. Meg's brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law, Blake Canon and Liz Flowers, also piqued my interest and their love story is told in Dani Collins' Blame the Mistletoe, a book that I've now added to my never ending TBR list. However, rest assured that The Bachelor's Baby can be read as a standalone and I'm giving it 4.5 stars out of five. ♥
