Review: Kissing Jenna by Kirsten Proby (Big Sky #2)

Kristen Proby returns to her Big Sky books with the second novel in the Montana-set contemporary romance series. Kissing Jenna is a celebrity romance involving Jenna Hull, younger sister of Brad--whose got his own happily-ever-after in Charming Hannah--and Max--who's up next in Waiting for Willa--and the owner of Snow Bear Chalets. Her newest guest is a certain Mr. Flint Stone, otherwise known as Oscar-winning actor and paparazzi magnet Christian Wolfe. Cast in what could be the most important film in his career, Christian may not be a truly gifted actor, but that skiing is something beyond his capabilities for now. Being surrounded by the snow-covered mountains of Cunningham Falls gives him the opportunity to take some much needed time away from his life in California while also learning how to ski. Being utterly charmed by his hostess, however, had never been part of his agenda. Christian is quickly but surely falling for Jenna, and Jenna is right there by his side, falling headlong. But Christian's life in public is complicated, and Jenna isn't sure if she wants to be this hot celebrity's dirty little secret.

I liked Brad Hull and Hannah Malone's love story in Charming Hannah, however, I found myself liking Jenna and Christian's romance a wee bit better. There wasn't a whole lot of angst when it came to the actual relationship that the main characters' were developing. Everything about them felt easy and comfortable; any complications came from the outside world, a lot of which were courtesy of well-meaning but overly protective and involved siblings on both sides. Of course, there was also Christian's career and the fact that a lot of his life becomes fodder for tabloids and gossip rags. But all that aside, these two had the whole flirty friends turning into lusty lovers and then far more down pat. Their story was a really good read. There weren't any surprises, so it wasn't as if this book were groundbreaking or anything of the sort. But if you're the kind of reader that likes their romances with a whole lot loving and just a hint or two of complexity to keep things interesting, you can't go wrong with Kissing Jenna, which I'm giving 4.5 stars out of five stars to. And now the waiting game begins for both Big Sky's novella and final novel! ♥
