Review: "Shaken, Not Stirred" by Sawyer Bennett (Last Call #5)

Note: This ARC was provided by Season Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Casey Markham is the last woman standing among her girlies, a group of young woman who are as much sisters as they are friends. The other four women have fallen in love and are now living their happily-ever-afters with the men they love. Casey doesn't believe in forever after. She does, however, believe in the power of the one-night stand. She goes after men who have money and are arrogant and conceited enough to think that they have some sort of special privilege to be jerks to the people around them.

Tenn Jennings has put in his years of service as a Marine and has spent years working on his family's ranch. Now, he's enjoying his freedom, thinking of starting a custom motorcycle business with a friend, and riding his motorcycle to see his beloved daughter Zoey in North Carolina. He's never had any trouble finding a woman to spend the night with, but when he comes across a blonde goddess with a flat tire on the side of the road, little does he know that both the worlds are going to be shaken to the core.

Tenn is nothing like the guys Casey often targets for her sexcapades, but there's something about the tattooed biker and unemployed mechanic that makes Casey feel like throwing caution to the wind, only to backtrack afterwards. Tenn knows there's a reason why Casey is the way she is and he wants to know everything about her. They've both got secrets that they're not prepared to fully share with one another, but by the time they do, will it be too little, too late and put an abrupt end to what they have?

Shaken, Not Stirred is book number five in my new favorite series, Last Call, by Sawyer Bennett. Casey has been a recurring character in each of the first four books and I'm thrilled we finally learn much more about her, especially why she prefers non-relationships with a specific type of man. Until her reason was divulged, I honestly thought she was just this flighty playgirl who didn't know what to do with her life but was probably quietly envious of the relationships that her brothers and friends were engaged in.

I adored Tenn. The guy was like a walking contradiction, but in an absolutely good way. He had a huge heart and his capacity for love and understanding was remarkable. He was obviously a wonderful father and he was willing to be patient when it come to working on what he and Casey had. I also liked that he wasn't some guy who was jaded by the end of his marriage to Zoey's mother. His maturity stood out, and I don't think it was because he was the oldest male lead character in the series at thirty-three.

The books in the Last Call series have their share of similarities but there are also enough differences to make each one distinguishable. I was never bored and actually read all five one after the other in less than three days. Okay, yes, I admit it. I'm addicted to the stories and the characters and would love it if there were more books in the series. If not, Shaken, Not Stirred will end the series on a high note, tying all loose ends as far as the characters introduced in book one are concerned. This gets 4.5 stars! ♥
