Review: Give Me Love by Corinne Michaels (Rose Canyon #2)

Give Me Love is the second novel in Corinne Michaels's Rose Canyon series. This does feature a new couple--Emmett Maxwell and Blakely Bennett--but there is a story arc that began in the first book, Help Me Remember, and continues in this second one, so I highly recommend that the books be read in order. (Note: If you're a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, you'll be happy to know that Michaels's has enrolled her independently published books in KU, so if you're either new to her or this series, you can catch up now.)

The last thing Sheriff Emmett Maxwell expects to see in his hometown of Rose Canyon is Blakely Bennett. The same Blake he met while they were both in the military, then went on to marry only for her to walk away from him when he needed her most. She says she's in town because of a case she's working on--something to do with a missing girl. But it seems that there's more to her being in Rose Canyon than that. And it looks like there's way more to Blake's case as well. Emmett and Blake are looking for answers, and maybe it could lead to them finally giving their marriage the chance it deserves, but could it also possibly lead them towards uncovering some dark truths about the town Emmett loves?

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to like Blake, not when she made her surprise appearance at the end of the series starter, and not in the first few chapters of this second Rose Canyon book. But she won me over, thanks in large part to the fact that she truly did love Emmett, and it was clear that Emmett still loved her even after two and a half years apart. I adored their second-chance romance, but I also seriously liked the suspense and mystery elements of their story. It still feels like there are some things left hanging, but I suspect we'll get to those in the final book. Give Me Love deserves some love, so 4.5 stars!

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way.
