Review: Danny by S.L. Scott (Models on Top #1)

Note: This ARC was provided by InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review.

Needing to touch him again, to feel his warmth envelop me, I curve my fingers around his. "When I'm with you, I feel like my old self, the person I wish I was."

"Who are you?"

"I'm someone who lost their way."

His fingers tighten around mine. "Find your way back to me."

Danny, Danny, Danny. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Bestselling author S.L. Scott takes the second chance romance trope and sets it in the world of fashion and comes out with one hell of a winner with the first novel in her new Models on Top series, Danny. This eponymous title has supermodel Danny Weston at the top of his career and has no immediate plans of letting that spot go. He's worked too hard and too long (no pun intended) for too many years and now, he's faced with what could be the crowning glory of his career: to become the face of Vittori, the top name in the fashion world. He comes highly recommended by none other than the only girl he's ever loved and the very same one who broke his heart ten years ago--Reese Carmichael. In the decade since things ended, they've both moved on and have flourished in their respective careers, but something--or someone--is missing in their lives. Will they take this second chance at love and see where it can finally take them or keep themselves safe from heartbreak?

I do love me my second chance romances, and S.L. Scott has given readers an unexpected one with Danny and Reese. This could have gone a variety of ways, and it would have been so easy to peg Danny as some overly spoiled supermodel with a cocksure attitude guaranteed to piss everyone off. But nope, Danny is a sweetheart, and it's clear that he holds a special place in the lives of all those who truly get to know the man behind the photo-ready face. Now, I may be waxing poetic about our sweetie of a supermodel, but that doesn't mean that Reese is a slouch in the niceness department. There isn't any bitterness in her heart for how things turned out for them years ago. Sadness and regret, yes, buit there's a lot of love and fondness that continues to linger when she thinks of and is around Danny. If any two people deserved to have a second chance at love, it really would be these two, because it felt as if fate was simply waiting for everything else to fall into place before their paths crossed again. I did a lot happy sighing with this novel.

Based on the blurb for the series, there are three books for readers to devour as everything progresses. I'm taking a wild guess here, but it could be that the other two books will be about Luke, Danny's best friend and fellow model, and Sebastian, an up and coming model with a bit of an attitude problem. Luke looks to still be in love with one particular girl, and Sebastian, well, he may be the guy we all love to hate but then end up to be someone worth getting to know. But hey, I'm speculating here and whoever may be part of the series will certainly have to, at the very least, meet or surpass my already high expectations thanks to this series starter. I'm already considering this one of my favorite second chance romances so far this year, and that's saying a lot since I've already read a heck of a lot of those in the past four and a half months. This is only my second S.L. Scott read but she's quickly become an author who satisfies my cravings when it comes to my romance novels. I highly recommend you check out five-plus-starred Danny. ♥
