Review: Going All the Way by Megan Ryder (Knights of Passion #1)
Note: This ARC was provided by Tasty Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.
Going All the Way is the first book in the sports romance series from Megan Ryder entitled Knights of Passion, featuring the Georgia Knights, a professional baseball team. This series starter pairs image consultant Stacia Kendall with baseball player Jason Friar. After being made the scapegoat after a candidate she was working with finds himself immersed in a scandal, Stacia is given the opportunity by her tyrannical father to redeem herself by working with Jason. Except she and Jason have already met--and slept together--before. The fireworks they shared in the bedroom carry over outside of and they have more than their share of disagreements. Stacia needs to make this thing with Jason work and get him back out on the field, but when their attraction can no longer be avoided, will both their careers and their hearts become collateral damage?
There's no denying that there's a great deal of heat between the two main characters, but I felt that they lacked that emotional connection that would have carried them over from merely being good sexual partners to becoming the kind of couple that happily-ever-afters are made of. Stacia and Jason used one another--both to get off (if you know what I mean) and to get their careers back on track. I wanted more heart because there was already enough heat and it was difficult to become fully invested in them emotionally. That's not to say that the book was a terrible read. The story was good and Jason and Stacia were actually pretty good main characters. It's just that I look for that key element of emotional connection between the main characters so that I can feel connected to at least one, if not both, of them. Going All the Way gets three stars. ♥
