Review: Getting Wound Up by Jennifer Bernard & Erin Nicholas (Love Between the Bases #2.5 / Sapphire Falls #6)

Getting Wound Up is a crossover novel from bestselling authors Jennifer Bernard and Erin Nicholas, who bring together the world of baseball with the Kirby Catfish from Love Between the Bases and small town life and love from Sapphire Falls, respectively. This was a fun and entertaining falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling trope mixed with friends-to-lovers sports romance. Eli Anderson set aside his dreams of professional baseball when he had to leave college to take care of his family and the business they owned after his father suffered a stroke. Years later, his two closest friends concoct a plan with the blessing of his parents and the one tasked to see the plan through is none other than Caitlyn Murray, his best friend's younger sister. All Caitlyn has to do is to kidnap Eli--the guy she's had feelings for for years--and take him to San Diego for the Kirby Catfish tryouts. They're in closer quarters than they've ever been before, and this could very well be the right time for both Eli's and Caitlyn's dreams and fantasies to finally come true.
I've enjoyed Jennifer Bernard's Love Between the Bases in the past but I've never had the pleasure of reading Erin Nicholas's Sapphire Falls series. Still, I was able to full enjoy this crossover romance and couldn't help but grin as I read about Eli and Caitlyn. Theirs became a story of not whether or not they would get together but whether they would continue to pursue their feelings once Eli gets the call he thought he'd never have the opportunity to receive. It's pretty much par for the course in terms of what the ending is going to be for our two main characters, but then the fun part is finding out what they have to go through to get to that happily-ever-after of theirs. I think the book does pretty well as a standalone, but I liked that I was already familiar with the Kirby Catfish baseball team and now I'm curious about the town of Sapphire Falls, so yes, I've got a new set of books to add to my never-ending to-be-read list. If you're looking for a sweet and sexy sports romance, you may want to check out Getting Wound Up. Four stars. ♥
