Review: Moto by M. Never

Note: This ARC was provided by Sassy Savvy Fab PR in exchange for an honest review.

Moto is an erotic romance novel from author M. Never and is my first read from her. The story involves twenty-nine-year-old identical twins Devlin and Reese Dane and twenty-six-year-old Kayla Kincade. Dev and Kayla work together at Mercy Medical, with Dev as a cardiologist and Kayla a nurse. They're friends but Dev has been persistent in his quest to get Kayla to agree to go out with him. He may be good looking, intelligent, and a successful doctor--all things that a woman would be crazy to say "no" to--but he also happens to be a biker, and if it's one type of guy that Kayla refuses to go out with, it's bikers. Then  she rescues Reese from an accident that leaves him injured for several months. She's clueless in the beginning that he's actually Dev's twin, but if denying her attraction to one Dane man was difficult, what more that she's attracted to two of them. She's drawn to both men, and she soon gives in to one, quickly followed by the other. However, when the three of them take things in an unexpected direction, complications abound.

I was feeling torn while reading and after finishing this book, and it had nothing to do with the whole threesome aspect of the relationship among the Dane twins and Kayla. A lot of my not-so-positive thoughts and feelings were connected to none other than Kayla. She wasn't upfront about having slept with Reese before she slept with Devlin was proof of what kind of person she was and was more evasive than decisive, making her somewhat wishy-washy. Her presence and the interest that the two brothers had in her tested their own relationship and maybe for that alone, I'll give Kayla credit, because it was that brotherly bond that had me interested in this book. Dev and Reese had this dynamic between them and they were no doubt close but there was also this rivalry that goes past the usual sibling kind because of their subtle differences and shared proclivities. There are complexities that go on between siblings, but because they share the same woman, those complexities are of a higher level and the risks are far greater.

This was touted as racing novel, so I was a tiny bit disappointed that there wasn't as much of it as I would have expected. In the first half of the book, racing is mostly only mentioned in connection to Reese and his being in the professional motorcycle racing circuit. Still, it was a good read and one that touches upon a different kind of supposed love that Kayla had for two men and vice-versa. There's a twist in the story that didn't really surprise me all that much because there were already hints that it headed in that direction. I do think, though, that the story ended in a way that gave a fair amount of closure for all the characters involved and gave one form of happily-ever-after. Just when you think the book is all about sex and the kinks the three characters are into, you realize that there really is a pretty angsty story in the works and that Devlin, Reese, and Kayla have a lot more going on than just who sleeps with whom. Despite my not being a Kayla fan, Moto was able to give me much more than I had anticipated in the beginning. 4.5 stars. ♥
