eBook & Audio Review: The Best Men by Sarina Bowen & Lauren Blakely, narrated by Teddy Hamilton & Jacob Morgan (The Best Men #1)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) and an advance listener copy (ALC) was provided by the authors.

Maybe we're both saying the same thing—that we don't want to go.
Or maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.

The Best Men has been on my list of most anticipated reads for 2022 ever since Sarina Bowen and Lauren Blakely publicly announced this project of theirs. I counted down the months then the weeks and then the days. And every single bit of that wait has been so darn worthwhile because Bowen and Blakely have combined their writing talents together and given fans and readers a swoon-worthy and le-sigh-inducing M/M romance—one that's left me with a silly smile since I finished reading and listening to it. Yep, I totally simultaneously read and listened to this book, and I make no apologies for it. It's something I haven't done in forever, and this delightfully intexticating (nope, that is not a typo!) is the stuff (my M/M romance) dreams are made of.

This full-length novel picks up where the prequel novella, Super Hot Wingman, left off. (Side note: While you don't necessarily need to read said prequel, it does serve as the perfect starting point because it's where readers get to see the main characters meet. Also, it's free on e-retailers and it's a quickie read, so why not peruse it anyway?) Twenty-seven-year-old futures trader and single father Mark Banks and thirty-year-old former superstar football (aka soccer) player turned professional photographer Asher St. James have been chosen as the best men in Mark's younger sister's and Asher's best friend's upcoming nuptials. They can probably help plan the wedding without killing each other. Kissing each other, though...who knows?

Sarina Bowen and Lauren Blakely have done the impossible—they've managed to make me see spreadsheets in a whole new (dirty) light. Mark had his fantasy spreadsheets, and Asher had no qualms delivering—and not just exclusively while spread out on high-count sheets (wink, wink). I was smitten with these two men and seeing them develop into a couple, especially given how Mark was towards Asher in the beginning, everything that followed while they were in Miami and afterwards, was a joy. Could it get any better? Well, yes it could, courtesy of the impeccable vocal stylings of the always awesome twosome of Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan. Dare I hope for more from Bowen and Blakely?! Five-plus stars go to The Best Men!
