Review: Drawn to Him by Various Authors

Note: This ARC was provided by the authors via Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review.
Drawn to Him is a collection of eight brand new stories written by bestselling authors K.L. Kreig, M. Never, L.J. Shen, Isabella Starling, K. Webster, Jade West, Willow Winters, and A. Zavarelli. For the purposes of this review, I read five of the eight stories--The Billionaire's Beginning by M. Never, Doctor Dreamy by L.J. Shen, Fifth Avenue Blues by Jade West, Bad Cop by A. Zavarelli, and One Night by K.L. Kreig. I hope to be able to read the three remaining stories--Infatuation by Willow Winters, Malfeasance by K. Webster, and Datenight by Isabella Starling--sometime in the future. Out of the eight authors, I'd previously read at least one book by half of them, except for Starling, West, Winters, and Zavarelli. So, I decided to go with three authors that I was already familiar with and two new-to-me authors, and it made for a wholly entertaining read because each story h…

Release Blitz: One More Thing by Lilliana Anderson

One More Thing (47 Things #2) by Lilliana Anderson Release Date: September 19, 2017
About One More Thing I never asked to slip on a piece of gum then fall in love with a man who would die before the ink was dry on our marriage certificate.  But that's what fate had in store for me. It broke me. I vowed I'd never fall in love again.  Five years later, fate had one more thing planned. It wanted to play around in my life again. Its tool? Another blasted stick of gum. Same place, only this time, it was Jude Baker, a university lecturer, who slipped on the gum.  Despite being a pacifist, Jude wasn't particularly happy about having gum stuck to his shoe and made his distaste abundantly clear. But that stick of gum was the catalyst to a series of events where our paths would continue to cross. There would be a broken nose, a fractured hand, a cat on a lead and a crashed corporate Christmas party that would align our hearts and make me realise that I wanted to be happy again.  But the…

Review: One More Thing by Lilliana Anderson (47 Things #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted it to stop hurting.I wanted to remember him.I still wanted to miss him.But I wanted it to stop hurting.So.Much.I'd been hurting for so long.
I went into this sequel with equal parts anticipation and trepidation. The former was brought about by my reaction to the first book in the series, 47 Things, where author Lillian Anderson introduced readers to Sarah Kennedy and Tyler Lohan and how Tyler was gone within months of their wedding and how Sarah was a widow at twenty-two. The latter came about because Tyler stuck with me and did I really want him to be replaced in Sarah's heart by someone else. He was the kind of first love that deserved to be--should have been--Sarah's forever love. But that's not how things worked out for them. A new man would come into Sarah's life--into her four-year-old son Ty's life. Would Jude Baker become her last love, the o…

Review: 47 Things by Lilliana Anderson (47 Things #1)

"Sweetheart, if I could help it, I'd be right by your side forever.""Forever would be the perfect amount of time," I said, wrapping my arms around him and burying my face in his neck.
There's a warning that comes with this novel--and its sequel--about needing tissues. I should have heeded that warning. I should have also not read this in the wee hours of the morning because once I had finished it, I simply had to proceed with the one that followed it. But I shall reserve my thoughts and feelings for One More Thing for its own review. This review is about 47 Things, the first in the series by the same name, and I'm not sure if I can name the exact same number of things that I loved about this novel, but there is no doubt about one thing: this was, hands down, one of the most heartrending and inspiring stories I've come across in a good, long while, and in the process, I've discovered a new-to-me author I'm going to be keeping my bookaholic ey…

Review: Lucas by Sawyer Bennett (Cold Fury Hockey #8)

Note: This ARC was provided by Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Sawyer Bennett's highly popular Cold Fury Hockey series is back and for her eighth release, Bennett gives us Lucas, which is the story of Lucas Fournier, who has just been traded to the Carolina Cold Fury and will be playing beside his older brother Max. Luc wants nothing more than to help the team defend their championship and gain another title for the franchise. While he dreams of having his own family one day, he's still young and isn't really looking for any sort of committed relationship. So, when he meets museum curator Stephanie Frazier, who is just as gung-ho as he is about hooking up, they're like each other's unicorn--a unicorn who provides one night of unforgettable sex before going their separate ways with nary a backwards glance. Except Stephy comes looking for Luc a month later. It looks like Luc has left her something to remember …

Review: Fate Heats Things Up by Sarah Hadley Brook

Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Fate Heats Things Up is Sarah Hadley Brook's latest short story and it's how Fate can either be one's happy helper or one huge hindrance. In the case of bartender Scott Dwyer, it feels more like the latter than the former, especially since it feels as if there hasn't been much of an opportunity for him to let Station 39's newest firefighter, Adrian Campbell, know he's interested in something beyond their limited interactions. With the rash of fires making people suspect an arsonist is in their midst--with some looking closely at the new firefighter in their midst--will Fate throw them a lifeline and show that some things are worth waiting for or will the arsonist get to them first?

Scott and Adrian certainly had a meet-cute that had both men taking notice of each other. It's also clear that they pay attention when the other's around, but life and responsibilities get in the way, …
