Review: Temporarily Yours by Diane Alberts (Shillings Agency #1)
Kayla Moriarty is used to dealing with facts and figures in order to give her a clearer perspective on different situations. Those don't prove to be all that helpful when it's time for her to get on her flight to North Carolina to attend her younger sister's wedding. She's already feeling anxious about having to explain the absence of the boyfriend she made up to get her mother of her case about settling down, and her not being a fan of air travel has amped up her anxiety levels. Then she meets former Marine Cooper Shillings, who himself is on his way to North Carolina to spend a few days before heading to Afghanistan on security detail with a private firm. Not only do Cooper and Kayla hit it off at the airport, he helps ease her fears on the flight. When he ends up volunteering to be her fake boyfriend and attend the wedding activities with her, Kayla is unsure about how successful they'll be able to pull it off. But soon, not only is her family welcoming Cooper with open arms but Kayla finds herself wishing that what they have was real.
Temporarily Yours is the first book in the Shillings Agency series from bestselling author Diane Alberts and was a fast-paced steamy romance about an actuary named Kayla Moriarty and former Marine Cooper Shillings. Both Kayla and Cooper have family issues that they're basically not fully acknowledging or dealing with head-on, choosing instead to run away from it all. There's no denying the instant connection they make at the airport, one that translates into spontaneous acts involving heart and heat. These are two very likable main characters, making it really easy to cheer them on as they act on their attraction, but stumble when it comes to the possibility of it being more. Even their respective families are affable, allowing the focus to really be on Kayla and Cooper and how they'll end up hurdling the obstacles before them. There's an ease in their non-relationship, the kind that invites thoughts of an actual relationship, which then leads to conflict. Temporarily Yours was a sexy read and an enjoyable 4.5-star series starter. ♥
