About The Subs Club
A year ago, my best friend Hal died at the hands of an incompetent “dom.” So I started the Subs Club, a private blog where submissives can review doms and call out the douche bags.

A perfect example of the kind of arrogant asshole I mean? The Disciplinarian. He has a pornstache. He loves meat, stoicism, America, and real discipline. And he thinks subs exist to serve him.

But . . . not everything about him is awful. His Davy Crockett act just seems like a cover for his fear of intimacy, and part of me wants to show him it’s okay to get close to people. And, I mean, sue me, but I have fantasized about real discipline. Not role-play, but like, Dave, you’re gonna be thirty in four years and you still work in a mall; get your ass in gear or I’ll spank it.

Not that I’d ever trust anyone with that kind of control.

I’m gonna redefine “battle of wills” for the Disciplinarian. Or I’m gonna bone him. It’s hard to say.

—Dave

About The Subs Club series
After the death of their friend Hal at the hands of an irresponsible dom, submissive friends Dave, Kamen, Miles, and Gould band together to form the Subs Club—an organization seeking to expose dangerous local doms. The club slowly evolves as romances blossom, loyalties are tested, and tensions mount in a community already struggling for unity in the wake of Hal’s death.

From domestic discipline to knife play to fashion paraphilia, and from family drama to new jobs to first loves, the members of the Subs Club explore life’s kinks inside and outside of the bedroom as they attempt to let go of the past and move forward.

Meet Kamen
Age: 26
Occupation: cook
Orientation: pretty gay
Boy Band Stereotype: the Heartbreaker

I have to steal my editor’s description of Kamen, because it was spot on. She said, in essence: Here’s a guy who’s figured out how to dudebro his gayness.

I don’t even need to write the rest of the post. Because that’s it. Thank you, Delphine Dryden.

Kamen knows he’s basically a jock stereotype. He grew up hearing that he wasn’t the brightest, but he got by on his charm and athletic ability, and then he wound up with this group of friends who thrive on academic discussions about kink and queerness and gender, and he’s a little lost at first. Because he just likes to do what feels good and he doesn’t really know what “sex-positive” means, but he’s very open-minded.

So even though some of the Subs Club discussions go a bit over his head, he’s enthusiastic about contributing, and about bringing all kinds of diversity into his own kink life. He gets irritated sometimes with the way his friends treat him. When he writes blog posts for the Subs Club, Miles edits them to make them sound smarter. Dave, who was his classmate in high school, still seems to think Kamen’s the same bro he remembers from Adams High. And all of them think Kamen wasn’t as deeply affected by Hal’s death as they were.

But Kamen loves his friends dearly in spite of all that. He’s also close with his mother, who’s also in the kink scene—though she usually plays at a different dungeon, thank God. Kamen plays guitar and will make up a song on the spot for any conceivable occasion. Greatest hits so far include “Squirrel Gravy,” “Figging Me Softly,” and a mariachi-themed cover of “Hotel California.” Really, Kamen’s just trying to navigate adulting and BDSM without stumbling too badly. And for the most part, he’s crushing it.
