Review: All of Me by Jennifer Bernard (Love Between the Bases #1)

He was one of the most promising prospects in the majors, but now, pitcher Caleb Hart finds himself in the Triple A Kilby Catfish baseball team and his opening game has left quite an impression...if only it were the good kind. He needs to get his game going again if he hopes to return to the major league because his family is counting on him to bring in much needed financial support. That means doing whatever is asked of him by the team owner and his manager. One of the tasks given requires him to work side by side with Sadie Merritt, a member of the mayor's staff. The mayor thinks Kilby Catfish don't have the kind of stellar reputation that will reflect well on the town. Management tries to play nice but Caleb being around Sadie is putting all kinds of naughty thoughts in his head, thoughts that could lead their flirting to so much more.

All of Me is the first novel in the Love Between the Bases sports romance series and is also my very first read from author Jennifer Bernard. This was an enjoyable story, one that was lighthearted but also had both lead characters--Caleb Hart and Sadie Merritt--dealing with some serious issues. Trust is something that doesn't come easy to either of them, but even as they struggle with their respective circumstances, they find that something special in one another that inspires them to take a chance. The story itself was fast-paced and both Caleb and Sadie were highly likable main characters who combined sweet and spicy really well. There are also a couple of interesting supporting characters that I wouldn't mind knowing more about as the series progresses. All of Me was a good series starter and it gets four out of five stars. ♥
