Author Spotlight: Laura Clark, The Westbrook Series

I love it when authors reach out to readers and reviewers because it enables us to discover books that we may have missed out on, what with the barrage of new books that are released on a regular basis. When Laura Clark messaged me on Goodreads and asked if I was interested in reading the first book in her Westbrook series, I did my due diligence and checked what other people had to say on both Goodreads and Amazon. Of course, lots of reviews are subjective, so I always take reviews from people I'm not familiar with with a grain of salt. But still, the blurb was more than enough to snag my interest and from that first book, I've become a certified fan of the series as a whole and of Laura Clark and her gift for storytelling.

I'm thrilled to share with all of you my interview with Laura and hope you'll get to know her and the Westbrook series better. Enjoy!

A Q&A with Laura Clark
1. What or who inspired you to write the Westbrook series?

I wanted to create a group of teenagers who are positive and don't fit into the stereotypical roles. The popular kids don't always have to be jerks, but it seems like that's how they're always portrayed. My very best friends were popular in high school, but they are two of the most amazing people I have ever had the privilege of knowing.

2. If you could give main character Laila Patterson one piece of advice, what would it be?

Relax.  Stop overthinking things. I promise you it will all work out. Don't be afraid to trust your heart.

3. With the original trilogy done, which team were you on: Team Sam or Team Trevor, and why?

This doesn't quite answer your question, but I don't envy Laila because I think it would be very hard to choose. Sam & Trevor are so different and yet they're both amazing. Both boys hold a very special place in my heart. ♥

4. If the Westbrook books were made into a TV series or movie, who would your dream cast be?

This was the most fun one to research!!! :)

Zoey Deutch as Laila Patterson

Liam Hemsworth as Sam Woodson

Chace Crawford as Trevor Maddox

Amanda Seyfried as Avery Brookes

Josh Bowman as Kyle Patterson

Diego Boneta as Gavin Trotter

AnnaSophia Robb as Allie Summers

Olivia Holt as Dawson Pierce

Cody Linley as Blake

5. When you were in high school, who would you have been more likely to date: a guy like Trevor or a guy like Sam? Please explain.

That's tough. I probably would have been more attracted to a Sam when I was in high school. He's older, super sexy, and extremely charming.

I think I would have been more in love with the idea of him, though. When you're young, it's easy to confuse that with real love.

6. What's the most valuable lesson that you learned in high school?

This, too, shall pass!

7. What words of wisdom can you share with writers who aspire to be like you?

Don't be afraid to write and put it out there. Not everyone will appreciate your writing, but that's okay because the people who do will make it worthwhile for you.
