Review: Dirty Pleasures by Meghan March (Dirty Billionaire #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by Rock Star Lit PR in exchange for an honest review.

Dirty Pleasures is the second book in bestselling author Meghan March's erotic romance series entitled Dirty Billionaire and picks up right after the events of the first book that shares the same title as the series. Country singer and songwriter Holly Wix hasn't been married to billionaire Creighton Karas that long, but they're already having issues, though more on Holly's part than Creighton's, if I'm being honest here. The fact is, these two don't know each other all that well, and they end up making assumptions and seriously need to work on their communication skills outside of the bedroom. So, they're having problems isn't really that much of a surprise, and there's a part of me that's actually glad that they're having these challenges in their marriage, because then, it feels more real and not the other usual fairy tale-like stories.

Holly is a highly reactive young woman, and while I admire her desire to make her career her top priority, it's curious that she doesn't seem to understand whenever Creighton gives so much of his own attention to his business dealings. I don't want to blame her immaturity on her age, because that really wouldn't be fair to women in their early twenties in general. Maybe it's her need to prove to her record company and to the music industry that she's got a voice and writing skills behind that pretty face of hers. I just felt that she demanded so much from Creighton but barely reciprocated. I mean, seriously, the man put his life on hold for her, and yet it never seemed enough. Let's not forget that she wasn't coerced into marrying Creighton, but she appears to be clueless and hasn't fully realized that marriage is about give and take on BOTH ends.

I'm really, really, REALLY hoping that Holly grows up in the third book and learns that walking slash running away never solves anything. For once, I'm actually hoping that Creighton refrains from doing what he did after discovering she left him to go on tour. Yes, he may be a domineering man, but it's clear that he's made concessions and changes in order to make his relationship with Holly work. I think it's high time that she carries her share of the burden that comes with a marriage. In two weeks' time, we'll finally get the conclusion to Creighton and Holly's love story and it's been an entertaining ride so far. The introduction of Creighton's first ex-wife has certainly made things interesting and I can't wait to see if she plays an even bigger role in the trilogy's final installment. I'm giving Dirty Pleasures four out of five stars. ♥
