Review: "Snowcroft Lost" by Christi Snow (Men of Snowcroft #1)

Jamie Vaughn has been in love with his best friend Trevor Mayne for fourteen years, but he knows nothing is ever going to happen between them. Trevor is straight and has no problem getting any girl he wants. Jamie's ready to move away from Snowcroft to mend his broken heart and move forward with his life, a life without Trevor. But when he finds Trevor badly hurt and unconscious on one of the trails, Jamie knows he's going to have to postpone his plans in order to take care of his best friend. However, Trevor doesn't just have to mend a few broken bones and heal bruises. Trevor is suffering from amnesia.

Trevor may be injured and has lost his memory but he isn't blind to the fact that the man who's been sitting by his bedside is good looking and someone who cares about him. The way his body is reacting to Jamie's presence tells Trevor that he's gay but he's confused when he finds out that he's something of a manwhore and has no problem going from one girl to another. Aside from trying to make sense of his feelings for his best friend and figuring out who he can and can't trust, Trevor needs to find out if what happened to him on the trails was merely an accident or is connected to a case he was working on.

Snowcroft Lost is the first book in the Snowcroft series by author Christi Snow, with each of the books set in the town of Snowcroft, New Mexico. Book one is a friends to lovers romantic suspense novel and has best friends Jamie Vaughn and Trevor Mayne as the lead charcters. Jamie has unrequited feelings for Trevor and decides that moving to Austin, Texas will help him move on, especially with their friendship being somewhat strained. When Trevor loses his memory after suffering injuries on a mountainside, the formerly straight Trevor pursues Jamie, something that surprises the latter and the rest of Snowcroft.

Aside from the romance between Jamie and Trevor, I loved the mystery suspense part of the story. Trevor was working on a case and he knows that finding the file detailing what the case was about and his own notes for it will help create a clearer picture for him and, hopefully, help him bring his memory back. There's something sinister going on in their small town and other than Jamie, Trevor isn't sure who it is he can actually trust. It's almost as if anyone is a potential suspect and trying to figure out who was and wasn't guilty was part of the fun of this book and definitely kept things interesting from start to finish.

All in all, this was an enjoyable novel and a great beginning to what I already suspect may become a favorite of series of mine. The characters are complex and while I did figure out who the bad guys were, it took me longer than usual, which is a good thing because no one wants to know that sort thing right away since it'll take away from the overall experience. With a town that's got memorable characters to choose from, I'm looking forward to reading what else Christi Snow has in store for us and the Men of Snowcroft. If you're in the market for good M/M romantic suspense book, Snowcroft Lost is a winner. 4.5 stars! ♥
