Review: "Cheaters Anonymous" by Lacey Silks (Cheaters Anonymous #1)

Jules Berkeley and Scar Wagner were best friends in high school. Five years after they parted ways, they spent a memorable time trapped in a cave. Jules thought it would be the beginning of something more, but Scar's note and disappearance broke her heart and changed her in ways he never thought possible. Six years later, their paths cross again. She's now an ER doctor and he's a business owner. The spark between them is as strong as ever but it's been six years and a lot has happened since the avalanche.

Scar did what he felt was best when he left Jules, believing neither of them was prepared to take their friendship to another level. Neither he nor Jules have been seriously involved with other people, but Julia inability to enter into a committed relationship belies a secret that she's been keeping. The only woman Scar sees himself being with is Jules but are they ready to do what's necessary to take the next steps, especially since both of them have dark secrets plus a stalker whose threats are escalating?

Cheaters Anonymous is contemporary romance novel by bestselling author Lacey Silks that weaves together a bit of angst and comedy along with doses of suspense. While this can be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading the prequel novella, When Things Go Wrong, before tackling this one. The novella provides a back story that kind of makes it easier to understand why Jules became addicted to sex. And hello, the time they spent together in the cave will be worth the few minutes you put into it.

I enjoyed reading Jules and Scar's love story and liked how they didn't immediately jump into bed together even though the urge to do so was so great. When it came to sleeping with other people, they had already been there and done that, but because they wanted to try dating and being in a relationship with the one person they felt they belonged with, they underwent the whole courtship process. Well, courtship in a modern sense. ^.^ The evolution of their relationship was fun and interesting to read about.

There's a twist to the story that I didn't see coming until it was close to the revelation, meaning I figured it out before it was revealed but it still took me longer than usual, which is always a good thing because I like being surprised by the books I read. Scar's brothers were rather intriguing and I wouldn't mind reading their stories in the future. If I had to choose whose story would be told first, I'd go with Axel and Trish's story. Overall, Cheaters Anonymous was an entertaining read and it gets four stars from me. ♥
