Review: "Going All In" by Alannah Lynne (Heat Wave #4)

Two years ago, Callie Holden did the near impossible: she put her father in prison and started to live and behave like the adult she was, taking responsibility for her own life. She's no longer the privileged heiress she once was and she prefers it that way, embracing her independence and earning the money that she has instead of having everything handed to her. She's enjoying working as a staging designer for Mazze Builders and gets along with almost everyone...except for "The Beast", the company's foreman who looks at her with undeniable disdain. Their first working experience was a bad one but maybe she can show him that she isn't the cold-hearted slave driver she had to be.

It's been a year since Wade Neumann got his heart broken by his ex-fiancée who unexpectedly ended their engagement. No longer looking for a committed relationship, Wade's been hopping from one bed to another with random women and friends with benefits. The one constant in his life is his job as foreman for Mazze Builders and while he's grateful to his boss Kevin for all he's done for him, he sure as heck doesn't appreciate being saddled with the woman who reminds him too much of his rich and spoiled ex-fiancée in more ways than one. But when being around her again makes Wade realize that there's more to Callie than the pampered princess he assumed she was.

Going All In is Alannah Lynne's fourth full-length novel and fifth release in the popular Heat Wave series and focuses the spotlight on Callie Holden, who readers met in book two, and Wade Neumann, who was introduced in book three. Callie and Wade are interesting combination, what with the differing backgrounds and life experiences, but there's a sweetness about the two of them that I gravitated to and quite enjoyed. She's had a well-traveled life but never really experienced what it was like to live while he's never left the country but has been through a lot already in his fairly young life. They fit one another perfectly, like two puzzles finding their missing pieces.

I've enjoyed the Heat Wave series and each one of the books have left me smiling, though I do admit that I do play favorites and the first book, Saving Me, was exactly that because it's what hooked me into reading all the books that I came after it. Now, I've got another favorite: this fourth book. ^.^ I liked the story of two people turning their lives around one and learning how to be independent and becoming better people for it and finding true love when they were ready and being able to lean on one another while maintaining the independence they had. This was a slow and steady but sizzling burn and one I would happily recommend. Going All In gets a five-star rating! ♥
