Review: "A Christmas Heat Wave" by Alannah Lynne (Heat Wave #3.5)

Kevin and Sam Mazze, along with daughter Michaela, are hosting a special Christmas gathering in their vacation home for their closest and dearest friends. Eric and Kat Monteague are just about ready to welcome their second child while Gavin and Sunny McLeod, both busy with their bar and restaurant, need to be prepared to be even busier in the coming year. This group of friends is more family than anything and they've planned this Christmas get-together for a while now, but even the best laid plans can go awry when fate decides to step in and makes this one holiday that none of them will be likely to forget anytime.

A Christmas Heat Wave is a holiday novella in the Heat Wave series by Alannah Lynne and takes place after the first three books. This story can also be found in the Love, Laughter, and Merrily Ever Afters collection of holiday novellas by various authors. I do suggest that the first three full-length novels be read prior to this one because then most of the characters mentioned here, whether lead or supporting, will be more familiar and give readers a greater appreciation for the events that will unfold in this story. Reading about how far these couples have come since their stories were told was both fun and nostalgic on my end.

This novella was like a progress report for fans of the series and it was highly satisfying to read about what's been going on with the couples, even though they do become recurring secondary characters in future installments of the series. The fact that Lizbeth Sanders and Lucas Steele, both of whom were introduced in book three, knew one another had me intrigued and I can't wait to learn what all that's about in book five. A Christmas Heat Wave is a really quick read but one that can be appreciated whether Christmas is in the air or many months away and a fun novella I enjoyed from start to finish. Five stars! ♥

Date Read: 20 April 2015
