Review: "Smart, Sexy, and Secretive" by Tammy Falkner (Reed Brothers #2)

Emily Fields knew what she was putting at risk when she decided to go to her father for help, but she did what was necessary in order to help Matt Reed, the brother of the man she loves, Logan Reed. This time, though, she and her mother have taken steps to ensure that her father's plans of marrying of her to one of his lackeys is no longer viable. After months of being away from Logan, the Reed brothers, and New York, Emily's making her way back to them and to a new life in Julliard, the school she's always dreamed of attending. Unfortunately, her parents are tagging along and it appears her father hasn't given up quite yet.

She may no longer be Kit but Emily's still the woman he fell in love with months ago and Logan's more than ready to move forward with their life as a couple. While Emily's mother welcomes him with open arms, his girlfriend's father doesn't see him as worthy to be a part of Emily's life and has gone as far as bringing Emily's ex-boyfriend and the man he wants Emily to marry to live in Emily's apartment. It may not be easy but Logan is determined to prove to Emily's father that he will always put Emily first in his life and nothing, not her bull-headed father or her ex-boyfriend or her family's money, will stand in his way.

Smart, Sexy, and Secretive is the second novel in the Reed Brothers series by Tammy Falkner and picks up a few months after the events in the first novel, Tall, Tatted, and Tempting. Emily Fields finally returns to New York to start school at Julliard and to be with Logan Reed, the man she unexpectedly fell in love with. There's the wondering if the feelings between them are still the same, especially with the truth of who she is now out there, but both Emily and Logan refuse to let anyone derail their relationship. That reunion between them was one of the most poignant and sweetest moments in either of the two books. ♥

While I did like the book and was glad to get the resolution that I was wanting after that evil (!) cliffhanger in book one, I felt that the role Emily's ex-boyfriend was a bothersome distraction, especially since Emily's father on his own was already a big enough obstacle for their relationship. On the other hand, the Reed brothers are still as winsome as ever and I'm seriously curious what's in store for the rest of them. I know I'm really behind on the series but with two down, I intend to get my act together and work my way through every available book. ^.^ Smart, Sexy, and Secretive was a great sequel and it gets 4.5 stars! ♥
