Review: His to Take by Katee Robert (Out of Uniform #3.5)

With her short-lived Broadway career coming to an abrupt end just as it was finally taking off, Erin Robinson finds herself back in her hometown of Wellingford. She knows people in town are curious about why she's been back for as long as she has, but she isn't really ready to share what happened with anyone, least of all the one guy who was her one hook-up every time they were in the same place at the same time. Erin made a choice to end that non-relationship last year, but seeing just how hot Warren Davis is makes her wonder what the hell she was thinking when she did. 

With his career as a Marine coming to an end much earlier than he ever anticipated, Warren Davis is making plans for the future, one that he hopes includes the one woman he fits him perfectly. Warren's ready to show Erin Robinson that they could be more than what they once were, and if it means pushing her buttons and engaging in a game of Truth or Dare, he's all in. But while things between them are hotter and heavier than ever, both Erin and Warren wonder just how prepared they are to face some unavoidable truths and if the will take the dare to call each other "mine". 

His to Take is the fifth release and the second novella in the Out of Uniform series from bestselling author Katee Robert. Erin Robinson and Warren Davis were introduced in the first novella (and second series addition), Erin being the younger sister of police officer Aaron Robinson and best friend of Marceline Bellini and Warren being someone Marcy went out on a date with. Erin and Warren have history together, from the time they shared a kiss when Erin was nineteen. They became occasional f*** buddies up until a year before their paths crossed again, although there are those who believe they'd make a good couple.

Erin and Warren are at similar points in their lives, but neither is fully aware of that fact until much later on, which causes a bit of conflict. Their story is fast-paced, essential for a short read like this one, and there's a lot of steamy scenes between the two of them. It's clear that they like each other and that there's a connection. I appreciated that the ending is far more realistic than you would expect from a romance novel, but it's one that remains hopeful because it felt more like a beginning of something more for Erin and Warren. Not sure if His to Take is a series ender but if it was, it's a four-starred end to a good series. ♥
