Review: Champagne Kisses by Lynda Aicher

Four weeks wasn't a lot of time for Evan Cleary to put together a Christmas Eve wedding for his clients, but he did it and has contingencies in place. The one thing he wasn't quite prepared for was his grooms calling the wedding off after one of them is caught cheating. Left with no other option, Evan turns to the older brother of one of the grooms, Richard Patterson, and they try to salvage what was supposed to be a happy occasion. Evan can't deny his attraction to Richard, but the man has an aversion to effeminate gays like Evan...except Richard has been drawn to Evan from the moment they first met weeks ago, femme tendencies and all. One unexpected kiss leads to them setting aside whatever apprehensions they may have for one night together. Will Christmas morning bring the inevitable end or a beginning to something new?

Champagne Kisses is a holiday novella from author Lynda Aicher and has two characters from the Bonds of Denial novel in her Wicked Play erotic romance series from Carina Press. This novella tells the story of Evan Cleary and Richard Patterson but picks up a month or so after they first met and how their mutual attraction to each other culminates in an unforgettable night that both promised was a one-time thing. Richard is a very conservative gay man who barely takes the time to interact with other gay men in social settings. Evan, on the other hand, is what's considered effeminate, something that Richard has never been drawn to until him. They both have their own share of misconceptions, but they really do click. There's lots of heat between the two, both the nice and naughty variety. I read this without having reading Bonds of Denial (which is now on my TBR list), so Champagne Kisses works very well as a standalone. Four stars. ♥
