Review: Sinful by Jennifer Dawson (Undone #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by Caffeinated Virtual Assistance Services in exchange for an honest review.

Jillian Banks has given up hope that she'll ever be able to get her brother's best friend--and the man she's fantasized about for years--to admit he wants her just as much as she wants him. But Leo Santoro has his reasons for keeping his distance and denying himself--and Jillian--the chance to be together. Leo believes Jillian deserves to be with a man who can give her the commitment a woman like her should have. He also doesn't think that she can live with the kind of sexual lifestyle he's into. Then Jillian turns her attentions to someone Leo knows shares the same proclivities he does, and he decides that if anyone is going to satisfy Jillian's curiosity and introduce her to BDSM, it'll be him and him alone. But Jillian isn't like the other women Leo's been with this time around, he can't seem to get enough and she's got his heart in her hands.

Sinful is the second novel in author Jennifer Dawson's erotic romance series entitled Undone and takes place prior to the events in the first novel, Crave. Here, fans of the series get to find out how Jillian Banks and Leo Santoro became the couple they are in book one, but while you may already know that they end up together, the journey they take getting to that place isn't an easy one and their story is nothing like that of Layla Hunter and Michael Banks's from Crave. There's a bit of history between Jillian and Leo, one that started when they first saw each other during Leo and Michael's graduation from the police academy. While Jillian has been actively trying to pursue Leo, he, in turn, does his best to dissuade her, not just because Michael is his best friend and considers him a brother, but also because of Leo's BDSM lifestyle.

Leo is a man who very rarely lets people in, and this could be in connection with the untimely death of his twin brother Tony. The walls that he erects around himself is one of the things that Michael warns his sister Jillian about when they discuss her relationship with Leo, and while everything may appear happy and satisfying, it's pretty clear that Leo still maintains a fair amount of emotional distance with Jillian. Yes, he cares about her deeply and she means the world to him, but he doesn't allow himself to feel more, even though everyone else can tell that he's in love with her already. The sad thing is, Jillian is the kind of woman that deserves to have a man who's able to be open with her about his feelings because that's how she is with Leo: open and accepting and willing to do whatever it takes to make what they share successful.

While Leo awakens the submissive side of Jillian that she never even considered existed, Jillian stirs emotions in Leo that he has closed himself off to after his twin passed away. Both these new discoveries bring with them a fair amount of fear and wariness, but it's how these two manage to handle those feelings that will either make or break them. I've quickly become hooked on the Undone series, and I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that this isn't the end. I'm even going to ship Brandon Townsend III and Gwen Johnson because I think those two would work as a couple and they've both piqued my curiosity as to what their back stories may be like. If you enjoy erotic romances that have as much steam as they do story line, then I'm going to recommend you check out both books in this addictive series. I'm giving Sinful five stars. ♥
