Bestselling author J. Kenner dives back into the world that made her a household name for many a romance reader with the latest novella in her Stark Ever After spin-off series. Please Me finds Nikki Fairchild Stark loving her life as a mother to her two daughters, but as a wife, she's been worried about her husband. She knows the demands a man like her husband faces on a daily basis, but then Damien Stark is no ordinary man. A self-made billionaire after transitioning from a top professional tennis player to creating his own successful conglomerate, Damien is no stranger to pressure and stress, but there's something bothering him and Nikki has no idea what it could be. After everything they've faced, they swore they would never keep secrets from one another, so why does Nikki feel as if the man she loves is keeping something significant from her and how will it all play out once she learns what it is?

Damien and Nikki Stark just happen to be one of those fictional couples that fans and readers can't get enough of, so J. Kenner's collection of novellas which are released in between the full-length novels are like those perfect bits of goodness that whet our appetite. In this newest one released through the 1,001 Dark Nights line of books, and while there's no doubting Damien and Nikki's love for and commitment to one another, that doesn't mean that they're free from any of the usual challenges that other married couples go through. The fact that they're as high-profile as they are, however, brings with it additional struggles, and this newest one may drive a wedge between them if Damien doesn't open up and share his burdens. But the last thing that he wants is to add to Nikki's worries, thinking that it would be best for him to fix it all before bringing her into it. Sigh. It's sweet but also frustrating, but then, there's not denying just how much Damien loves Nikki, and at the end of the day, who can fault a man for wanting to protect his family from anything and everything? Please Me definitely pleased me, garnering four stars. ♥
