Review: Bad Bishop by Layla Reyne (Perfect Play #2)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Valentine PR.

Bad Bishop is the second book in the Perfect Play trilogy penned by Layla Reyne, and I swear, this author is a mad genius when it comes to bringing together the elements of romance and suspense. This picks up where the series starter, Dead Draw, left off, so this is where I highly recommend that you read the books in order or else you truly will feel like something is missing. We've got husbands and federal agents Levi Bishop and Emmitt Marshall not only trying to protect their family, but also playing catch up with a case that has too many loose threads that should bring bits and pieces together, but there are obviously things still amiss. Marsh and Levi may have a marriage of convenience, and certain truths feel more inconvenient than anything else. However, one undeniable realization is that Marsh and Levi are partners--professionally and personally--and there's far more on the line than their careers the deeper they dig for dangerous answers.

If cliffhangers could kill... But obviously I'm still very much alive, but goodness, the frustration is real, people! The release for the third and final book in the Perfect Play trilogy from Layla Reyne isn't till June of next year, and I'm not exactly the world's most patient human being, so... However, a cliffhanger wasn't really all that unexpected since I've had the painful pleasure (because yes, waiting for the next book in a continuing series is like sweet torture) of reading Reyne's other romantic suspense series so I knew it was coming. But goodness, I just want Marsh and Levi to get their happily-ever-after, and ride off into the sunset with Levi's son, David, and the rest of their family that consist of both sides plus their friends and allies. But I know the wait is necessary and worthwhile, and Reyne is going to reward her readers' patience with a conclusion that'll have us on the edge of our seat. So, let the countdown begin, and let me give five stars to Bad Bishop!
