Review: Jagger by MJ Fields & Chelsea Camaron (Caldwell Brothers #3)

Jagger Caldwell experienced and witnessed violence at the hands of his abusive father. He feels a certain kind of violence underneath his skin and he deals with it each time he faces off with an opponent. That violence rears its head when he hears a girl in the building he lives in. What she's being put through by her own father is all too familiar for Jagger and he wants nothing more than to take her away from the situation she's in. But seventeen-year-old Tatiana Rand lets her fear get the better of her. Jagger refuses to stay away, doing his best to let Tatiana know that she isn't alone, and it's that lifeline that Jagger offers her that she holds on to. He isn't her knight in shining armor, but he's exactly what she needs, even if he doesn't believe it himself. Can two people who know brutal violence firsthand be able to find solace--and love--with one another or will too many things get in the way?

The Caldwell Brothers is a series about three brothers who had an abusive father but had a mother who loved them fiercely and who wanted them to carry on a legacy of good. I've enjoyed Hendrix and Morrison, so I was looking forward to the series ender, Jagger. Now that I'm done reading his story, though, I'm feeling...torn. Age differences in romances are not something I shy away from, and while Tatiana did start off as a minor here, Jagger did wait till she was eighteen to...do something about whatever he was feeling for her. But still I hesitate and it isn't necessarily because of her age but because of the fact that she was the victim of too many years of abuse at the hands of the only family she had. Going through that does not make you more mature nor does it equate to having your innocence totally stripped away from you. Totty was very much naive and innocent and I feel as if Jagger should have focused on that instead of the number that was her age. I also think she should've gotten some form of counseling. But hey, maybe that's just me. I'm taking the good with the not-so-good and giving two stars Jagger. ♥
