Review: "Room for Just a Little More" by Beth Ehemann (Cranberry Inn #2.5)

"I'm still waiting to wake up from this dream where I find out you aren't real, that none of this is real."

"You're awake, babe. We both are and we're gonna live out these dreams together."

When Kacie Jensen opened the door to find Brody Murphy standing right outside while a storm was pounding down around them a year ago, she would never have expected they'd be where they are now: newly engaged! Brody asking her to marry him was one of the happiest days of her life and she still can't quite believe how so much has changed since Brody was left stranded and sought shelter in the Cranberry Inn. She has much more than she could have ever hoped for and she and Brody are ready to start the next chapter of their lives as a family, with Lucy and Piper, and yes, Diesel too, and the people they love most.

Just as things appear to be on track for a happily ever after in all aspects of their life together, Kacie gets a letter in the mail from her estranged father, the same man who upped and left her and her mother when she was only ten years old. There was no effort at communication since his abandonment and while everyone around her reminds her to be wary and cautious, Kacie can't help but wonder if this could be an opportunity for her to re-establish some sort of relationship with her father. Brody doesn't want to see his fianceé setting herself up for disappointment and he refuses to allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves.

The end of a series always brings about a mix of emotions, especially when it happens to be a series that you've fallen head over heels for, which is exactly the case of bestselling author Beth Ehemann's beloved Cranberry Inn books. Room for Just a Little More is the perfect conclusion to a story arc of taking your chances when it comes to falling in love and the true meaning of family and how it's often composed of the people you choose to be a part of your life because they're the ones who've always been there for you. Some novellas are unnecessary, but this precious gem simply gave me everything I needed.

After getting her heart broken five years ago, Kacie was afraid to fall in love again and decided she had to have a checklist of qualities that the next guy she would be with had to have. What Brody had was above and beyond anything on her list and he's shown her what it is to not just love but to live again. Their love story went through quite a few hurdles and as I read how they worked to overcome each one, I couldn't help but think of the oft used and abused saying "Love conquers all." Like Brody and Kacie proved, it's about knowing who or what it is you're fighting for and that nothing should ever get in the way of any of it.

I'm going to miss Brody and Kacie, their respective families, and their wacky friends, but I'm thankful that I have these books to go back to whenever I feel the need for warm fuzzies. This novella may be short compared to the the first two full-length novels but what it may have lacked, and I'm using that term very loosely since this book was lacking absolutely nothing as far as I'm concerned, in length, it more than made up for in heart. I can't begin to tell you how beautifully written this was and I'm seriously encouraging you to read the Cranberry Inn series if you haven't yet. Room for Just a Little More gets five-plus stars. ♥♥♥
