Review: The Pretend Fiancé Fiasco by Pippa Grant (Copper Valley Bro Code #6)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.
The wait for the last two members of Bro Code to get their stories told may have been long, but Pippa Grant made it worthwhile, especially since between the wait between Cash Rivers' and Davis Remington's books was only about six months. Speaking of Davis, the lone single guy from the band gets his story told in The Pretend Fiancé Fiasco, which is the sixth and final novel in the Copper Valley Bro Code series. He's the one that readers know the least about, and that has a lot to do with his decision to totally step away from the celebrity life that came with being a member of the biggest boy band in the world at one point in time. So, when thirty-five-year-old Sloane Pearce needs him to pretend to be her boyfriend in front of a former friend sent by her grandmother, she's actually surprised he steps up to the plate. What shocks her even further is that he doesn't say no to a fake wedding either. Of course, Davis wasn't doing it simply out of the goodness of his heart; he wanted something in exchange, and now, Sloane isn't quite sure if she should be staring at this gift horse in the mouth or if he's just a treasure trove of possibilities.
Sloane and Davis's story was the wonderfully entertaining and endearing combination of romance, adventure, and the best kind of happily-ever-after for two people who so deserved it. It may have taken a bit for these two to find their groove, but once they did, well, suffice it to say that I couldn't get enough of their banter and chemistry. My heart went out to Davis for the feelings he had about what led to the breakup of Bro Code fifteen years prior, but not only was Sloane now there to reassure him that he wasn't some nefarious guy who should continue drowning in guilt, so were the rest of the Bro Code guys and the women in their lives, plus there was also Davis's sister. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the wit and humor in this book. The hijinks a lot of the characters--main, supporting, and recurring--got themselves into provided laughs galore, but then, this is a Pippa Grant romance, and you can always expect there to be heart, heat, AND humor! The Pretend Fiancé Fiasco was a fantastic five-star series end!
