Review: Dying to Meet You by Sarina Bowen

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by HarperCollins Publishers.

Sarina Bowen is in her domestic thriller era, and I'm here for it! Dying to Meet You is her next foray in the genre, and readers are introduced to Rowan Gallagher, a single mother and architect currently working on the restoration of a historic mansion in Maine. Almost everything is going well...except her most relationship which ended via text. In her head, she knows she deserves better and that she shouldn't waste her energy on a man like that. However, that's all easier said than done, and spending time stalking every move he makes through a tracking app leads her to head out and catch him in a compromising position with his latest conquest. Indeed, Rowan finds him--dead. With the police focusing on her as their prime suspect, she knows she needs to clear her name and as quickly as possible, but digging for information could very well lead to digging her own grave.

There was so much about this book that caught me by surprise, and I mean that in a good way. A lot of what happens is stuff you don't see coming, and can I just say that when it comes to thrillers, that tends to be a good thing. Rowan was a main character that a lot of people could relate to. She was far from perfect, but I have a far greater appreciation for a main character who is flawed than for one that isn't. It allows for more growth and development that way, which you see happening with Rowan as the story progresses. While the mystery and suspense are front and center with this novel, there is a bit of a romantic aspect to it as well, and I must admit that I like how it played out because it felt meant-to-be. Dying to Meet You did not disappoint, and I wouldn't say no to several more thrillers from this author. Four stars.
