Review: Tiger Lilies and Tight Ends by Kathryn Andrews (Tampa Tarpons #2)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via The Author Agency.
Tiger Lilies and Tight Ends is the second book in Kathryn Andrews's Tampa Tarpons football romance series. This is a story involving Lily Kent (26) and Tyler Quinn (29). Lily is an up and coming romance author who used to work in the marketing department of the DC Destroyers, the football team her ex-boyfriend plays for. On the other hand, Tyler is the starting tight end for the Tampa Tarpons and has been best friends with Lance Kent, Lily's older brother, since they became roommates in college. Starting over after her breakup, Lily's brother reaches out to Tyler and asks if Lily can stay with him for a while--a huge favor for someone like Tyler who has actively avoiding sharing his space with anyone post-college. Setting house rules should ensure that Tyler and Lily can live together--temporarily, of course!--amicably. But maybe they should've added one more rule: No falling in love.
Lily and Tyler's story was an interesting one. More often than not, romances that involve the falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling trope have the main characters crushing on each other for years before they take the plunge and act on those feelings. While Lily did have a crush on Tyler when she was a teenager, Tyler didn't seem to reciprocate. He also had trust issues, no thanks to a failed relationship that made him jaded and wary. I quite liked Lily being the sunshine to Tyler's more grumpy personality. Of course, the more time these two spent together, the closer they got. Swearing of professional athletes is one thing, but the heart wants what it wants, even if it meant that Lily's heart could break if Tyler wasn't careful with it. There was the inevitable third act breakup, but I appreciated the original creative touches the author employed. Tiger Lilies and Tight Ends receives four stars.
