Review: The Single Dad Dilemma by Kat Savage (Family of Misfits #1)

If you loved Kat Savage's Men of Bird's Eye series, then her new spin-off series, Family of Misfits is the new spin-off series may very well click with you, too. The Single Dad Dilemma is the series starter, and as hinted at in the title, this is a single parent romance, one that involves the newly hired nanny, and there's an age gap to boot! And if you've never read any of the Men of Bird's Eye books, you can jump in straightaway with this new release and not feel as if you're missing out on anything of vital importance.
There's no denying that Ridge Jessup's world revolves around his five-year-old daughter, Louise Mae, but getting kicked out of ten daycares has left the thirty-five-year-old single father and tattoo artist needing a new plan. Maybe a nanny is what they need, and twenty-five-year-old grad student Darcy Anderson turns out to be a godsend. She quickly bonds with Lou, and she eases Ridge's worries when it comes to his daughter. So being attracted to Darcy is a complication; knowing that attraction is mutual? A total dilemma.
I quite enjoyed everything that Ridge and Darcy's romance had to offer. I loved how Lou remained their top priority even while they explored their connection. There was also nothing rushed about their relationship, with them building trust and earning respect even as they became friends and then more. I appreciated the effort in tying this spin-off to the original series, but Avery kind of disappeared after a few chapters, and I was curious as to whether Ridge would continue running the shop or not. Still, The Single Dad Dilemma was a good start to the Family of Misfits series, and it gets 4.5 stars.
