Review: Risky Game by Stacey Lynn (Nashville Steel #4)

Risky Game is the fourth novel in the Nashville Steel series from Stacey Lynn, and this go-around we've got the team's new head coach as the male main character! Thirty-six-year-old Logan Caldwell is coming into the Nashville's professional football team with the weight of expectations bearing down on him. After all, the Steel is the reigning champion, and his predecessor has left behind one heck of a legacy. The last thing he needs is his ex suddenly informing that she's set to go on vacation with her boyfriend, meaning their four-year-old daughter, Amelia, was now heading his way to spend the next three months with him just as football season is about to begin. In desperate need of a live-in nanny, one of his players recommends his sister, but will being around twenty-three-year-old Ruby Moore create a whole new brand of unavoidable yet lustful desperation for Logan?

I've been looking forward to Logan and Ruby's story ever since it was announced. This was the first non-player book, but it did involve an active player's younger sister! Logan and Ruby were clearly physically drawn to one another from the moment they sat down for their interview--okay, maybe more like from the moment he opened the door to let her into his home--and I appreciated that this wasn't going to be a love at first sight thing (more like lust at first sight). That being said, I did miss having these two engage in more romantic encounters, i.e. the sweet, swoony kind. I'm all for heat and Logan and Ruby exploring their D/s (lite), but I also relish those quieter interactions that inspire me to become more emotionally invested in the main couple's relationship. Still, Risky Game made for a really entertaining addition to the series, which is why I'm giving it four stars.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
