Review: Darkest Need by Rachel Van Dyken (The Dark Ones Saga #6.5)

I've made no secret of the fact that my favorite Rachel Van Dyken series is The Dark Ones Saga, so every time RVD releases a new book, whether it be a full-length novel or a novella, I'm as giddy as a vampire on the prowl for guaranteed prey. Okay, maybe that analogy made more sense in my head than here on my blog, but you get what I mean. Darkest Need is the newest novella to the series, published via 1001 Dark Nights Press, and if you're as much of a fan as I am of this book universe, you're going to want to snag this puppy up as soon as nonhumanly possible. Can this be read as a standalone? Quite possible, but there are recurring characters throughout the series, so there's certainly no harm in reading the books that came prior this new one, especially if you happen to be a fan of either paranormal romance or RVD.

Darkest Need is Tarek and Lilith's story, and what do you think happens when a werewolf prince is abducted by a succubus? Chaos ensues, of course, but happily-ever-afters don't necessarily come easily to the Dark Ones, do they? And well, Tarek's HEA has been a long time coming, even if he never quite believed there was one waiting for him, not with everyone else around him falling for the ones intended for them. As messy as Tarek and Lilith's journey to their HEA may have been, it sure was fun and entertaining. There's just something about this series that makes readers like me keep coming back for more. Like once it's got its proverbial fangs into you, you're hooked forever. Five stars for Darkest Need.
