Review: Puck Yes by Lauren Blakely (My Hockey Romance #2)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Puck Yes is the second book in Lauren Blakely's My Hockey Romance series, which features stories of throuples in the world of professional hockey. While you don't necessarily need to read the series starter, Double Pucked, in order to fully enjoy this new novel, recurring characters abound, so there's a potential for spoilers. This go-around, we've got Ivy Samuels, Hayes Armstrong, and Stefan Christiansen. Ivy is the younger sister of Ryker Samuels, one of the male main characters in the first book and a former Avenger (the fictional hockey team, not the Marvel universe), and a fashion influencer. Hayes was recently traded to the Avengers and Stefan is team captain, with the two being friends and having played in college together. Ivy finds herself very attracted to Hayes AND Stefan! What's a girl to do? Not choose, of course!

When Ivy learns that "upgrade" her ex went for in the girlfriend department turns out to be her boss, she knows resigning is her only option. To make matters worse, the two are engaged and her now former boss wants Ivy to cover the wedding for social media! Now, Ivy's in need of a date, and the new guy who lives in the same building she does volunteers himself. It turns out Hayes is the newest player for San Francisco--the same team she now works for as its mascot. On a trip to Vegas, Hayes is dared to walk down the aisle, and this time around, it's Ivy who volunteers to be his bride. But instead of the expected annulment, Ivy discovers the benefits of a throuple of convenience when Stefan makes his intentions clear and Hayes is more than okay with it. Will it become inconvenient once feelings then come into play?

I've come across a marriage of convenience numerous times in my romance reads, but dare I say that this is the first time I've even heard of a throuple of convenience! Lauren Blakely certainly kept things interesting, and the main characters definitely brought the heat and the heart to this second My Hockey Romance story. Ivy was no shrinking violet, and I loved how she was open and honest about her wants and desires, and both Hayes and Stefan had no qualms delivering not just those, but what their woman needed as well. I also liked the trust and respect that Hayes and Stefan had towards each other and showed Ivy. And Roxy? Well, that little scene stealer deserves all the snuggles and treats. I'm giving Puck Yes four stars out of five stars, and I'm eagerly awaiting the third book in this highly entertaining series.
