Review: Cherry Lane by Kristen Proby (Huckleberry Bay #3.5)

Cherry Lane is a new novella in Kristen Proby's Huckleberry Bay series, and it's an enemies-to-lovers romance between neighbors Cherry Dubois and Zeke Cross. She's a small town girl working as a preschool teacher, born and raised in Huckleberry Bay; and he's a big city guy who's made the move to Huckleberry Bay to open a new garage with his closest friend. The town may be small, but it's big on being welcoming--with the one exception being Cherry. There's nothing neighborly about her reception whenever Zeke's around, but when her heater goes kaput, it's Zeke who extends a helping hand. Soon, his hands are doing a whole lot more, but will Cherry get cold feet when it comes to taking a chance on having more than a fling with the guy who's coming to mean far more to her?

Ah, Zeke, Zeke, Zeke. The guy truly was someone who had a big heart. I seriously liked him from the get-go, and he certainly had a heck of a lot of patience when it came to his less than pleasant neighbor. Of course, that didn't mean that he didn't spend more time than he should have pushing Cherry's buttons. Now, she had pretty much made her mind up about him in their limited interactions, but she pretty much realized that there was more to Zeke than she had earlier assumed. Admittedly, I may have liked Zeke more than I did Cherry, but she did redeem herself and I was quite satisfied with how everything played out. Cherry Lane was a four-starred addition to the Huckleberry Bay series, and I really hope this won't be the last time we'll be visiting this remarkably lovely little town.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
