Review: Chapel Bend by Kristen Proby (Huckleberry Bay #3)
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Valentine PR.
We're back in the fictional small town of Huckleberry Bay with the third book in Kristen Proby's series by the same name. Chapel Bend is an enemies-to-lovers story, and it features Juniper Snow and Apollo Winchester, both of whom have piqued my interest from the get-go, given the tension between them every time they happen to be within each other's vicinity. But there was a time when June liked having her best friend's older brother around. She was nursing quite a crush on him, but that all changed after overhearing something hurtful. Since then, June has made a point of keeping her distance from Apollo. Except for one night--one that they both agreed was nothing more than a one time thing. However, Apollo wants the opposite. If only he could convince June he's ready and willing to take care of her heart.
I've been itching to read June and Apollo's story ever since these two had their first interaction in this series. I wanted to know why June wasn't a huge fan of Apollo's and how they were going to go from frenemies to more. I was quite entertained with the bickering as much as I was with the more playful banter going on between them. I appreciated Apollo owning up to what he did once he realized what it was that had hurt June and caused her to be as antagonistic as she was towards him. I also liked seeing a softer side to June, and her love and loyalty when it came to those who mattered most to her made her an even more endearing character. 4.5 stars go to Chapel Bend, and I hope we get more from this series.
