Review: Fun House by Lani Lynn Vale (Welcome to the Circus #1)

Welcome to the circus, or the Singh Circus, to be exact, which is owned and operated by the six Singh siblings--Keene Day, Valhalla Drew, Crimson Eurie, Kissimmee Flower, Caristionia Blue and Hades Pearl (the twins), and Zipporah Nancy. If you read Lani Lynn Vale's previous series, Gator Bait MC, then you'll recall that's where the Singhs were introduced, their circus having served as a place of refuge for Folsom Sano née Murillo and her daughter, Julie Payne (I'll Just Date Myself, book seven in the Gator Bait MC series). That being said, you do not necessarily need to read anything prior to starting the Welcome to the Circus series.

Fun House is Kissimmee Singh's story, the circus's resident aerial silk artist, and she's paired up with Coffey Simiencia, former Navy turned chef. When Simi crashes Coffey's beloved father's funeral, neither one expects the chance meeting to turn into something more, especially when Simi and her siblings are just about to leave Coffey's hometown to head to their new destination. But months later, she's shocked to find out that the circus's new chef is none other than the man she spent one life-changing night with--the same man who uprooted his own life and followed her. But it looks like something else is following them--trouble.

If this series starter is setting the standard for the rest of the books in Welcome to the Circus, then I hope the others are prepared to give Simi and Coffey's story a run for its money. I really enjoyed this opening salvo in this new series. The Singhs have definitely piqued my curiosity, as did Coffey's Navy buddies, but Simi and Coffey hold my attention from start to finish. I found their respective back stories to be interesting, and the romance itself was straightforward. As for the mystery aspect, the one I had pegged as the villain turned out to be the right person, so yay! Fun House lived up to being a fun-filled, fantastic, five-starred read.
