Review: Going for the Hole by L.P. Dover

I love watching several different kinds of sports, but there's one sport in particular that my family and friends find strange--golf. The sport itself isn't what they think is weird; it's the fact that I actually love watching it. Okay, maybe not every single tournament; I'm not that avid of a fan. I enjoy watching the major tournaments, the ones that bring in the most viewers because they're considered the most prestigious. So, when I found out L.P. Dover was going to release a sports romance novel with golf as the sport, well, I got a rather goofy grin on my face. I've enjoyed reading Dover's books, and I love that she went for a sport that isn't considered popular romance fodder.

Going for the Hole is a standalone read featuring Lucas Montgomery, a professional golfer who happens to be the top player in the world. Nicknamed "Ace", he's spent the past nine years swinging his...golf club...and while he loves the sport, he's growing a wee bit wearisome and desperately needs a break. So, why not spend a few weeks doing nothing more than kicking back with friends and playing golf for fun? When he gets knocked out by, of all things, a pink golf ball, he's immediately taken by his rescuer, Dr. Ashley Locke. He'd love nothing more than to get a hole in one with Ashley, but she tells him she isn't interested. It's time for Lucas to get at par with the hot doctor.

I thoroughly enjoyed this golf romance! Lucas and Ashley's story wasn't your "usual" sports romance read, and I'm always one for reading something new from a favorite author. These two main characters were more than likable, and I loved that they challenged one another time and again, making for entertaining moments throughout. Sure, they were two successful individuals who didn't have a heck of a lot in common, but then Lucas proving to Ashley that they deserved a shot at seeing where a relationship between them would lead was exactly why I felt this was as good of a read as it was. Overall, L.P. Dover did a fantastic job with Going for the Hole, scoring a 4.5-star rating. ♥
