Review: "Coming Home" by Priscilla Glenn

Let me begin this review by saying that I loved the first two books author Priscilla Glenn wrote. There's something about her stories and characters that touch the very heart of you. You can't read her books and not feel even an inkling of emotion. From the time I first read Back to You, her debut novel released in 2012, followed by Emancipating Andie, released in 2013, I've learned to keep my expectations high when it comes to Priscilla Glenn-penned novels. I'm happy to say that she hasn't failed me yet and her latest work, Coming Home, is proof that my faith in her talent is well founded! ♥

"Will the reward be worth the suffering?"

Leah Marino has always put her family first, especially after the death of her mother. She finds herself visiting the home their family once lived in each and every year but doesn't venture outside her car until fate intervenes and she finally meets the homeowner, an elderly woman named Catherine. Soon after she meets Daniel DeLuca and for the first time since she ended things with her ex-boyfriend two years ago, she feels an attraction that she may be willing to explore.

"You make it stop hurting," he said against her skin. "Every time."

Danny can't help but notice Leah. There's something about her that he finds difficult to resist. But he has to because he's on borrowed time. Try as he might, the pull to Leah is proving to be a losing battle. Even as he's trying to make up his mind whether to follow his heart or not, he's constantly aware that he's hiding something from Leah. The secret he keeps is one that has real potential of devastating Leah. She's already lost her mother and has come close to losing her father. Will she be able to handle the loss of someone already proving to be very significant in her life?

"The hurt will be temporary... This is the forever."

I'm not sure if the word "loved" is enough to describe how much this book affected me. I smiled and sighed in satisfaction but I also teared up and groaned in frustration. It made me feel and made me think, something not all books are capable of doing. Coming Home is one of those novels that you'll look back on and remember with fondness, recalling not just the story and its characters but its effect on you. ♥

I don't have too many books on my "Best Reads of 2014" list but let there be no doubt that Coming Home is now the latest addition. I highly recommend this beautifully written literary treasure to other bookaholics who, like me, are always on the lookout for that "something more" that'll make our hearts beat a little faster while reading and feel a little fuller afterwards. Without hesitation, I'm giving Priscilla Glenn's most recent winner of a book five-plus stars. ♥ It's no wonder why she's one of my favorite authors. ^.^
