Review: "Armed & Dangerous" by Abigail Roux

And now back to my Ty and Zane fangirling... ^.^

Armed & Dangerous is book number five in the Cut & Run series and the first one with Abigail Roux as solo author (Madeleine Urban retired in late 2011). Aside from this being a sequel to Divide & Conquer, this is a crossover novel involving characters from the Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux-penned Warrior's Cross: Julian Cross and Cameron Jacobs and, to a lesser extent, Blake Nichols and Preston.

After the cliffhanger ending in Divide & Conquer, we find FBI Special Agent Zane Garrett trying to deal with his partner's sudden disappearance. All he gets is one phone call in the middle of the night, with Ty telling him he has to go off the grid for some time due to an assignment. Soon after, Zane is informed by FBI Director Richard Burns that he's needed as backup for another agent in Chicago. Once he arrives at the airport, he's surprised to find out that the agent waiting for him is none other than FBI Special Agent Ty Grady.

The special assignment that Ty and Zane are tasked with has to do with bringing in former CIA operative Julian Cross. Knowing that he won't go voluntarily or quietly, Ty and Zane are forced to take Cameron Jacobs, Julian's lover, with them. Unfortunately, it seems that the FBI isn't the only one wanting to get their hands on Julian, and what follows is a cat and mouse game, making Ty and Zane wonder who the good guys really are and why they're being kept in the dark.

Aside from all the chasing, escaping, and attempts on their lives, Zane learns more about Ty in this installment. There are moments that Ty is more forthcoming than usual, but Zane finds out something he's long suspected from none other than Ty's best friend, Nick O'Flaherty. Yes, the very same Nick who confessed his love for Ty after he kissed him. Ah, Ty...goodness, the guy definitely has his fair share of admirers, both men and women alike! ^.^

Ty and Zane both want to take their relationship to the next level, having been inspired by how open both Julian and Cameron are with their love for each other. It's not as easy as it seems, especially since there's a policy regarding fraternization and neither are really ready to retire. Just when they're ready to take the risk to be out in the open, they hit a snag.

It was great bringing my two favorite M/M pairs in one book! Even while reading Warrior's Cross, I could see how Julian had a bit of both Ty and Zane in him, and seeing him square off with Ty in Armed & Dangerous was fun. I'm also glad that Zane and Nick finally had their chance to openly discuss the whole Nick kissing Ty issue. Nick is obviously a nice guy and would do anything for Ty so the fact that he's making an effort to make amends towards Zane gives him bonus points in my book. ♥

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! I'm giving it five-plus stars because it kept me guessing as to what the heck was really going on and if the bad guys were actually good guys and vice-versa. Ty and Zane were at their best in this installment and adding on Julian, Cameron, and Nick was the icing on top of one yummy cake. ^.^

While I feel that the book can be read without having first read Warrior's Cross, may I humbly suggest that you read it anyway? It'll provide the back story for Julian and Cameron and help make Armed & Dangerous an even better read. ♥
