Review: Hollywood Prince by Kim Karr

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.

After No Pants Required and Bedwrecker, Kim Karr's latest standalone release is about another member of the close-knit group of friends that are more like family in Laguna Beach, California--Brooklyn James, who is paired with Amelia Waters, his best friend Camden's little sister, only she isn't little Princess Amelia who insisted her Sir Towhead marry her when they were ten. She's grown up...but then so has he. They know they should keep their hands off each other and quit thinking filthy thoughts, not wanting to risk Cam's ire. But maybe, just maybe, if they agree to keep things casual, especially with Amelia returning to New York, nothing should go wrong. No harm, no foul, no strings that could entangle their careful hearts. They have rules...but you know what they say about rules.

When certain hurtful revelations are made about Amelia's family, she flies from New York to California, hoping to learn the truth from her brother Cam...only Cam isn't there. It's Brooklyn that she finds there, and while they may have been playmates as children, they're adults now. Adults with needs and wants, some naughtier than others. I loved the banter between these two, and how their connection was easy and natural, almost understated, and not as if I'm being clobbered over the head with it. You know, like the oft-used non-stop gazing into each other's eyes, reading each other's thoughts, etc. Yes, Brooklyn and Amelia belonged together, but they had to get to that point where they both realized and accepted that notion, which wasn't easy considering they didn't expect to fall in love.

Just like No Pants Required and Bedwrecker before it, Hollywood Prince was an easygoing read, the kind that proved to be the perfect book to curl up with on a holiday. Kim Karr knows how to do sassy and sexy well, her main characters possessing qualities that make them fun to read about and having readers wanting to be in the corner cheering them towards a happy ending. I'm also glad that there are other supporting characters that appear to be worthy of getting their own stories told. I know Chase Parker is up next, but I hope Landon Reese is somewhere down the line too because come on, he was a nice guy who deserved to have a girl to call his own as well. This is only my third Kim Karr read, but it's the third in a row that I've fallen in love with. Five stars for Hollywood Prince! ♥
