Review: Heart Breaker by Harper Kincaid (Break on Through #2)

Samantha Lockhart used to be a player so recognizing one isn't too difficult. And Kyle Masterson is every bit a player. He could probably smile his way into any pair of panties he chooses, but Sam refuses to fall victim to yet another player and his bad boy ways. A devastating tragedy has changed the way she sees life in general and she's closed herself off to any sort of intimacy. But Kyle has had Sam on his radar from the moment redheaded beauty caught his attention and now, he's doing whatever he can to convince her that he's someone worth being with. But can a former heartbreaker open herself up to someone who breaks hearts--unintentionally, of course--on a regular basis? And what happens when someone from Sam's past doesn't take too kindly to another man stepping in on the woman he obsessively believes belongs to him? Who's playing whom and how hard will these two play to win?

Sam and Kyle were introduced in the first book in the Break on Through series, and now they get their own time in the spotlight here in book two, Heart Breaker. Kyle is this weird divorce lawyer slash biker combo, but hey, no one ever said that a divorce lawyer can't enjoy riding his own motorcycle and hang out with the biker community. He may also be a player, but he's also rather sweet when it comes to Sam, and it was nice reading about him wooing her. There were a couple of times that I wished he were an actual person because he deserved to be smacked upside the head, but for all intents and purposes, Kyle was a good guy. Their story was a pretty good read, and the addition of a stalker made for an exciting touch to it all because of everything that was done in order for him to get get to Sam. Heart Breaker was a step above its predecessor and has me hopeful for book three, so it gets 3.5 stars. ♥
