Review: Falling Under You by Laurelin Paige (Fixed #4.5)

Falling Under You is a novella in the Fixed series by bestselling author Laurelin Paige, but it isn't about Hudson Pierce and Alayna Winters. This is a brand new short story about Pierce Industries chief financial adviser Norma Anders, who at thirty-four and a success in her professional life feels as if something is missing. Offering herself up to her boss leaves her feeling embarrassed after her rejects her advances, telling her that he isn't the man she needs. With Hudson Pierce taking himself out of the picture, Norma is at a loss, and isn't sure where--or who--to turn to next. Her assistant, Boyd Barrett, may have the answer, but can Norma allow herself to let go and let her twenty-six-year-old go-to guy take over and take control?

This was a fun and flirty addition to the Fixed series and if you've read the full-length novels, Norma should be a familiar supporting character to you, though I was admittedly not really much of a fan of hers. In this novella, I'm not sure if I can fully reconcile the woman I glimpsed in the original trilogy with the one here. I'm still not feeling too much for her, but at least we do get a better idea of who she is and what motivates her to be as driven as she is. Boyd, on the other hand, was far easier to like and I felt that he really was the one who was in control even outside the bedroom all along and merely let Norma think she had the reins even when she didn't. All in all, Falling Under You was a hot, quick read, which gets 3.5 stars. ♥
