Review: Delta: Revenge by Cristin Harber (Delta #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Delta: Revenge is a full-length military romance novel and the second book in the Delta series penned by bestselling author Cristin Harber. While his parents failed in every way possible, Javier Almeida always had his older sister there to take care of him...until their father sold her to the Primeiro Comando cartel. From that time forward, Javier made a vow to seek the cartel out and get revenge on what they did to his sister. As a teenager, he made money as a street fighter while being a vigilante of sorts when it came to women being used and abused by the cartel. And then he's taken by surprise when Brock Gamble, the team leader of Delta approaches him and offers him to be trained and become a part of Delta while promising that one day, Javier will get the only thing he desires: revenge. And for five years, it's been all about fulfilling his missions with the team, leaving Brazil but not really having a permanent place to call home, and keeping tabs on PC. But when Sophia Cole enters the picture, Javier finds himself far too distracted.

On the day that was supposed to be the beginning of a new life, Sophia finds out that her groom and her maid of honor had gotten to know each other in a biblical sense. With the wedding essentially canceled and a reception that has seen her perform her duty as her mother's daughter, Sophia finds that she can once again breathe freely after she's out of her wedding gown, helped along by the very man that makes her breath catch: Javier Almeida. Javier is part of the team her brother Colin belongs to, and she knows that any member of Delta is a no-go, but there's a pull to Javier that she can't deny and there should be no harm to one night together, right? They go their separate ways, but six months later, they meet again in the most unexpected of ways. Sophia is in Honduras as a supposed aid worker with the US Embassy and Javier and the team are there to protect the embassy. Javier knows there's more to Sophia being in the country than what she claims, and not sharing the truth could end up costing Sophia her life and her heart.

Gah! I loved, loved, LOVED Javier and Sophia! She was this confident and self-assured young woman who was able to bounce back from the hiccups in her life. She turns out to be the only thing to ever distract Javier from the sole focus of his life for years: seeking revenge for his sister. There's a push and pull when it comes to their non-relationship. Time and distance may separate them, but the connection is never severed. Javier is torn between loyalty to his sister's memory--though it was more about being loyal to his vengeful goal than the memory of his sister--and Sophia already knows what it's like to not be chosen by a man who claimed to care about her. Adding to their confusion on where to go next with their relationship is the fact that Sophia is keeping secrets and there are people who are intent on making her pay. From the tension to the anticipation, this second in a series is a thrilling romantic suspense ride. Two books in and I'm already a fan, looking forward to even more from the Delta series. Delta: Revenge receives five stars. ♥
